Let's start with a trolley problem. On one side of the track is consequences, and on the other side is meaning. The trolley is careening towards consequences, and you've got a lever right in front of you that can preserve them. If you participate, you can't observe from afar. There won't be any meaning for you because you will be inside the painting. There won't be any correct or incorrect interpretation beyond that point, because everything you could possibly do is exactly what someone like you would do. If you don't participate, if you aren't culpable in the death of consequence, there's nothing to worry about. Nothing looms heavy over you. The trolley could do what you could not.
Is this moment canon? Can you mindlessly watch and have this not mean anything? There's plenty of time to look at the world as pretty when you're not trying to survive within it. What does it look like when you are? Well, you have two shots. It's coming for you, any moment now. Now! *Bang* *Bang* That should do it. Ok, now you can breathe. It's strange how your happiness can just turn off like that. The moment it isn't useful it's shaken off like a tic crawling up your leg. What you are doesn't matter, only that you continue while it does not. Now that you can breathe it's possible to feel a particular way about it. Anyways, now it's slumped over the tracks. Pitiful looking now, isn't it? Looks like you died trying to kill it but only one of you came back to life.
How do you make it useful to be happy? Turquoise and pink read like Gertrude Stein but with the added bonus of emulsified in the common sense of the word. Maybe if you breathe it in? It takes on the continence of a dirt you've seen before but can't quite put a name to. Try adding more volume. At some point it's supposed to reach a singularity where it becomes clean. Bright white, reflecting every color and absorbing none of them, an absence from excess. Take and take until there is nothing left to take except for yourself. But where could you put yourself? In the second person, or an address to you? Which track do you want to sit on? This isn't something to decide upon lightly, however light you are.
